Ode to grey

80 x 80 cm

1993

‘Meta-art does not want to do anything else than express as much as possible of what we so beautifully call ‘the human condition’. That she succeeds in this in a bone-chilling complex way, is mainly due to the fact that Marianne Schuit has put aside each personal striving and interest, to give room to images that appear to express more of the human mind than actually may be considered possible.

These images are in no way trapped in any kind of programmatic approach. The main thing that they share time and time again is the strongly bonded style in which they are painted. And their incredible harmoniously unity, despite the limitless set of sheer contradictions laid down in them.

Meta-esthetics.

The purest of intuitions grown to the freest of expressions within a from all sides restrictive pictorial language.

Meta-art has made the impossible really possible

And thus distinguishes itself from everything else that has been done in the arts – and probably ever will be done.

Meta-art transcends the known arts – that’s why it is called Meta-art – entirely, despite the fact that it uses the same humble means.’
